Early Career and Domestic Achievements

Motie began his cricketing journey with the West Indies Under-19 team during the 2014 Under-19 World Cup. He made his first-class debut for Guyana in November 2015, showcasing his potential with impressive performances, including match figures of 11/105 against the Leeward Islands. His consistent domestic performances led to his selection for the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in 2021


International Debut and Milestones

Motie made his T20 International debut for the West Indies against Pakistan on December 16, 2021. He then debuted in One Day Internationals (ODIs) against Bangladesh on July 10, 2022, and in Test cricket against the same opposition on June 16, 2022. Notably, he became the first non-Asian spinner since 1912 to open the bowling in the first innings of a Test match.

In May 2024, Motie was named in the West Indies squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. His exceptional performance in the CPL 2024, where he delivered outstanding spells, further solidified his reputation as a formidable bowler.
